Thousands flock to Saint Tran festival in Ninh Binh

Thousands of people from across the country headed to the Saint Tran festival, which opened at the Trang An – Bai Dinh spiritual tourist site in Ninh Binh province on April 8 (the 18th day of the third lunar month).
The event was attended by Members of the Party Central Committee including Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan and Secretary of the Ninh Binh provincial Party Committee Bui Van Nam.
Head of Bai Dinh pagoda, Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, rang the bell and beat the drum to officially open the festival.
The event is held annually to commemorate the legendary hero Saint Quy Minh Dai Vuong, who is honoured for defending the country. It is believed that he can bring them favourable wind and rain for their crops, as well as a properous and happy life.
Saint Quy Minh Dai Vuong is now worshipped in the Tran Temple and many villages in Ninh Binh, as well as other provinces in the northern plain.
At the festival, Vice President Doan and other delegates also signed a document on ‘Making Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex into a Natural Wonder of the World’.
