We hope you enjoyed your week off for Tet.
Our tour which you arranged for us was excellent. The tour guides and drivers were all very good or excellent. Our guide ‘Sunny’ who worked with us in the North was exceptional (very excellent). Sunny was very well liked by our children, especially the boys. We would appreciate it if you could pass this compliment onto ‘Sunny’ (I do not know how to spell his Vietnamese name).
The parts of our tour which we enjoyed most were:
Ha Long Bay – the scenery was beautiful, it was very peaceful and the service, food and accommodation on board the ‘Lagoon Explorer’ was excellent.
Mai Chau- the scenery and weather was beautiful, observing rural life was very interesting and it was very peaceful.
Mekong Delta – a very interesting area, the real (not tourist) floating markets are amazing.
Dalat, Hoi An and the boat trip at Nhatrang were also very enjoyable.
The parts of our tour which we found most surprising or amazing were:
The markets at Hanoi – walking through them on our first day was a fantastic way to start our tour.
The traffic in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The history – visiting the Citadel in Hue, Mausoleums of Ho Chi Minh and Kings of the Minh dynasty in Hue and the tunnels in the DMZ and the Cu Chi .
It was always interesting to hear about how life is in Vietnam.
The food and accommodation provided for us was always very good and it usually exceeded our expectations.
Staying at hotels with swimming pools was excellent for the children. Staying at hotels which were well positioned within easy walking distance of tourist attractions was excellent, especially in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city.
Being flexible was excellent. The guides and drivers were very willing to make small changes to our tour which made our tour much more comfortable.
There was nothing that was bad or poor in our tour.
We have 2 suggestions which may improve the tour for future travelers.
The overnight train trip was an interesting experience. The conditions on the train were what we expected but, some western travelers may prefer to fly from Hanoi to Hue instead of using the train. The standard on the train is very average by western standards, this could be mentioned to travelers and the option to fly instead could asked.
Travelling with children is different to travelling only with adults. Our children have grown up in a small rural coastal town and are used to swimming and playing in open outdoor areas. They especially enjoyed Mai Chau, and boating in Ha Long Bay and Nhatrang. The children would prefer fun activities instead of visiting too many temples or mausoleums. Maybe you could list activities and places that children really enjoy so that parents could consider these when they are making their tour bookings. We did not visit any water parks in Vietnam but they could be included as an activity that children would enjoy.
We will recommend your company to anyone we know who may travel to Vietnam.
