Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Da Lat |
(L) |
This morning we leave Ho Chi Minh City and head
for the hills, literally. The scenic 7-hour drive along Highway 20 to Da Lat
will be broken up by stops at some of the tea and coffee plantations. We will
stop for lunch at the picturesque Ponguar water falls, about 15km from the
highway. Here you may have the opportunity of having your photo taken next to an
elephant! Arriving at Da Lat, sometimes known as the “City of Eternal Spring,”
by late afternoon, there will be the chance for a short walk to get a feel for
this delightful city.
Overnight in Da Lat.
In the morning, we take the visit to Linh Phuoc
Pagoda: 9km East from the center, the most colorful decorated temple of Da Lat,
caved with tens of thousands of beer bottles and broken china. Then we continue
the visit to Truc Lam Zen Monastery, the largest Zen Monastery of Vietnam. A
boat trip on Tuyen Lam Lake to the fine forest, time for a walk and an elephant
ride. After lunch at a restaurant, back to the pier.
In the afternoon, we visit Da Lat Railways Station, which is remarkable with its
architecture and its old steam locomotive. After visiting the crazy monk and Bao
Dai house, free time for strolling in the Da Lat City.
Overnight in Da Lat.
